Installation

Download & install

Install the modes you want to play through Steam or the Microsoft Store / Xbox app. You do not need to install Campaign if you only want to play Multiplayer. Let the required downloads and updates finish.

Dedicated server files are for hosting only and do not include all the files needed to play.

Add the launcher

Download s2x.exe and place it directly in your WWII installation folder. Use the download below or a link shared through official S2x channels.

Download S2x

Steam: The usual location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty WWII. Your Steam library may be on another drive. Look for s2_mp64_ship.exe for Multiplayer or s2_sp64_ship.exe for Campaign.
Microsoft Store / Xbox app: The location depends on where you installed the game. Place s2x.exe alongside the game files in the folder containing MicrosoftGame.config. S2x detects this version automatically.

Launch S2x

Open s2x.exe, launch a mode and let any updates finish.

Join a server

Open the in-game server browser in Multiplayer or Zombies and select a server to join. If needed, you can also copy an address from the server list and use the console:

Replace IP:PORT with the server address

connect IP:PORT

Updating S2x

S2x checks for updates when you launch a mode through s2x.exe. Leave Disable automatic updates unchecked.

Troubleshooting

Fatal error: 485 code_post_gfx_mp

This error can occur when game files are missing or damaged, including when the game has not finished installing or you are using dedicated server files to play.

First, let Steam or the Xbox app finish installing and updating your selected modes. Make sure s2x.exe is in your Steam or Microsoft Store / Xbox app game folder. If the error remains, verify the game files:

Steam: Right-click WWII in your Library, open Properties, select Installed Files, then Verify integrity of game files. Steam verification guide.
Microsoft Store / Xbox app: Open the game's page in the Xbox app, select …, then Manage, Files and Verify and repair. Back up any mods or custom files before repairing. Xbox app verification guide.

Let verification and any replacement downloads finish, then launch s2x.exe again. If the error remains, ask in #help-client on Discord and include the full error message.

S2x cannot find my game

Check the folder locations above. The launcher belongs in the game folder, not Downloads or a separate subfolder. If game files are missing, follow the verification steps above.

S2x will not update

Launch a mode with Disable automatic updates unchecked. If the update fails, check that your connection, firewall and DNS settings allow access to updater.s2x.dev. If the service is unavailable, try again later. Include the error message when asking for help on Discord .

The server browser is empty

Update S2x and check your selected mode. Multiplayer and Zombies have separate lists. If you know a server's address, try connect IP:PORT in the console.

Do I need to forward ports?

No port forwarding is needed to join a server. It is only needed when hosting a public server behind a router.

Check existing reports on GitHub Issues before reporting a confirmed bug or crash. Include:

A description of the problem and steps to reproduce it.
What you expected and what actually happened.
Any error messages, screenshots, logs or crash dumps available.
