Frequently asked questions

Settings, scripts and common questions about S2x.

Controller settings

Is aim assist enabled in S2x?

Yes. S2x allows controller aim assist by default in Multiplayer. Server owners can disable it with sv_allowAimAssist 0, so availability depends on the server.

How do I change my controller deadzone?

Open the console and set the stick deadzone. For example:

Set stick deadzone
gpad_stick_deadzone_min 0.15

Lower values respond to smaller stick movements. Increase the value if you notice stick drift. The range is 0 to 1, and the setting is saved.

Use gpad_stick_deadzone_min 0.2 to restore the default.

Console & display

How do I open the console?

With a game mode running, press the grave accent ` or tilde ~ key. Type a command and press Enter. Press the same key again to close the console.

How can I see my FPS?

Enter this in the console to show the FPS counter:

Show FPS
cg_drawFPS 1

Use cg_drawFPS 0 to hide it. The setting is saved.

How can I see my ping?

In Multiplayer or Zombies, enter:

Show ping
cg_drawPing 1

Ping appears while you are in a match. Use cg_drawPing 0 to hide it.

How do I change my FOV?

Use the Field of View slider in the game's settings menu. S2x raises its maximum to 160.

You can also adjust FOV scale separately through the console:

Set FOV scale
cg_fovScale 1.2

The default scale is 1. Use cg_fovScale 1 to restore it.

Development & exploration

How do I use cheat commands to test or explore?

In Multiplayer or Zombies, the host or server owner must enable cheats first. Host a match and enter this in your console, or enter it in your dedicated server's console:

Enable cheat commands
sv_cheats 1

Then use these commands from your in-game console while alive. Enabling cheats allows other players on that server to use them too.

  • noclip: fly through walls and map geometry.
  • ufo: use an alternative free-flight movement mode.
  • god: toggle god mode for invulnerability.
  • demigod: take damage without your health dropping below 1.
  • notarget: make AI enemies ignore you.
  • give weapon_name: give yourself a weapon with ammo.
  • take weapon_name: remove a weapon from your inventory.

Replace weapon_name with the weapon's internal name. Run listassetpool 48 in the console to list the internal names of currently loaded weapons.

Enter noclip, ufo, god, demigod or notarget again to switch it off. Turn off any active modes before disabling cheats with sv_cheats 0.

In Campaign, these commands work without enabling sv_cheats.

Scripts & mods

These paths are relative to the folder containing s2x.exe. Create any missing folders and keep the mod's supplied folder structure.

Where do I put GSC scripts?

Put .gsc files in s2x\scripts\mp for Multiplayer and Zombies, or s2x\scripts\sp for Campaign. For example:

Multiplayer and Zombies GSC path
s2x\scripts\mp\example.gsc

Scripts placed directly in s2x\scripts load in all modes. Use the appropriate mode folder unless the script supports all of them.

GSC gameplay scripts run on the host. Put them on your dedicated server or in the game installation where you host a match. Adding one to your own files does not change someone else's server.

S2x compiles the source when a map loads and calls its main() and init() entry points when present. Start a new match or restart the server after adding a script.

Where do I put Lua / LUI scripts?

Give each UI mod its own folder containing __init__.lua. For Multiplayer and Zombies, use:

Multiplayer and Zombies UI mod path
s2x\ui_scripts\mp\my_mod\__init__.lua

For Campaign, use s2x\ui_scripts\sp\my_mod\__init__.lua. For a mod that supports all modes, use s2x\ui_scripts\my_mod\__init__.lua.

A loose .lua file directly inside ui_scripts is not loaded automatically. Keep any accompanying files inside the mod's folder.

Restart the game mode after adding the mod, or run lui_restart in the console to reload the UI. UI scripts belong in your client installation; dedicated servers do not load them.

Unlocks & support

Do I have to use unlock all?

No. Unlocks are optional. Open Unlocks from the Soldier menu in Multiplayer or Zombies to choose the available options.

The item and loot toggles override availability. Progression unlocks permanently change saved stats and ask for confirmation before applying them.

Where can I get help or report a bug?

Check the installation troubleshooting or server hosting guide. For help on Discord , use #help-client for game and client issues or #help-server for hosting.

Report reproducible bugs and crashes on GitHub . Check existing reports first, then include the steps to reproduce the problem and any error messages or logs.
